I’ve never taken a writing class or workshop before, can I apply?

You absolutely can! In fact, we encourage you to apply! We’re looking for writers, book lovers, and travel partners. Join us in celebration of literature and literary travel. This type of cultural exchange is an absolute gift.

What are the deadlines for application/notification?

DUBLIN, IRELAND

Application deadline: March 15, 2026

Notification deadline: April, 2026

Tuition payment deadline: May 1, 2026

  • Tuition is non-refundable, but in extenuating circumstances can be applied to another trip we offer.

Are scholarships available?

We’re just getting started, so we currently do not have scholarship funding for tuition. However, we hope to have such funding in the future.

Do I need a VISA?

Yes. You need an active Visa for all international travel. If you don’t have a Visa, be sure you apply well ahead of time and also be sure that your Visa is not set to expire within six months of your travel. Consult this page for everything you need to know about international travel and visa requirements.

Should I buy travel insurance?

These days more than ever, travel insurance can be a blessing in disguise. It’s up to you whether you choose to buy it or not, but we certainly recommend it.

What other costs should I budget for?

Tuition is fully paid in advance. All other activities, meals, travel, and lodging are at your cost. This is to give you the most flexibility in the accommodations you’d like to choose and in the types of experience you want to have. We’re of the “cheap and cheerful” mindset. We’ve designed our trips to be accessible and affordable. Most of the activities are free or at a very low price point.

What is the itinerary?

You’ll see the general itinerary outlined here. Once you’ve been admitted and paid your tuition, we’ll send you the full itinerary with all the details. We expect to also hold a Zoom get-together well ahead of each trip so we can all meet briefly and resolve any lingering questions. We’re excited to meet you!

When will my faculty mentor be in touch?

After you’ve enrolled, we’ll put you in touch with your faculty member and workshop cohort about two weeks prior to the trip. At that point, your mentor will give you an idea of what’s expected for workshop and on your first day.

What should I plan to pack?

We strive for comfort above all. Be prepared for a lot of exploratory walking around these various cities, so comfortable clothing you can layer and a good pair of walking shoes are paramount. I’m a big believer in a backpack. As for writing materials; laptops are fine, but not necessary. You can get by just fine with notebooks and pens.
